National 2018

As it stands all please gather at Grey Cars Coaches (my place of work) from 10am for an approximate departure of 11:00 - 11:30 departure, my workshop will be open if anyone needs assistance.  I do have some car washing facilities available too if you want to give your girl or boy a wash (excludes children, adults upon request)!  As I mentioned in a previous magazine, on the main road directly on behind the workshop, there is a BP garage so you can top up with fuel and sweeties and use the W/C etc.  Once we’re all together I’ll brief everyone on the route of the Road Run and things to look out for.  You will all be given directions of the route, which hopefully you will all find easy to understand.  I shall also hand out a menu for the lunch stop so you can have a browse to see what takes your fancy.  Lunch will be our 1st stop which is at “Jaynes Café” at Princetown, we have been allowed parking (free) at the rear of the cafe.

Once we leave the cafe, we will be heading across the moors towards Moretonhampstead where we have been given free access to a field for us all to park together.  There you have two options, you can either have a wander around the village, or you can visit the Moretonhampstead motor museum, which has a lovely selection of old cars, motorcycles, and memorabilia. There is a discount for the club, make sure that you have your membership cards with you.

From here we will take a drive through some beautiful scenery towards the Teign valley and make our way to a place called the Orange Elephant.  This is a lovely little place to stop, maybe try one of their delicious homemade ice creams or just visit the loos.

You can then exchange the country smell for a bit sea air; as we will make our way towards the Coast!  This will then take us towards our final end point of the run which will be Dawlish Warren, we will all park together in the overflow car park.  You can relax and maybe dip your feet in the sea if you wish.  Be warned Chris (Chairman) will be on the look-out for the first person to get in the sea!  There will be a prize for the winner and a picture in the next mag!

Sunday is going to be a fantastic day out for all the family, we will be meeting at the South Devon Railway from 9:15 to 10:00!  Nice and easy to find from the main A38 at Buckfastleigh, you will be guided in by our own marshalls to our dedicated area for the day.  Once you are in crack out the polish and join in to what we all do best - talk about cars!

Maybe take train ride down the line to Totnes town, or browse the station’s wonderful engine and coach sheds onsite, the workshop is a must very interesting indeed.

There will be discounts on some things at the railway but you will need to show the ticket office your MMOC membership card to receive a discount.  I’ll be handing out some leaflets on the Saturday to help plan your day.  I hope you all enjoy your weekend and above all have fun. Safe trip down to Devon I’ll look forward to seeing you all.
